What Causes Burning Sensation In The Anus During Bowel Movements?

default
Posted on Wed, 31 May 2017
Question: The last two months I am experiencing a burning sensation at my rectum whenever I move my bowels. It goes away as soon as I am finished. I have the feeling to move my bowels frequently but nothing happens as often as the feeling to move the bowels. No black stool. No blood visible when wiping. No weight loss. Occasionally have gas stomach pains. No loss of appetite. I take no other medication other then Allegra and Pepsin daily. I am in general good health. I am 84 yrs old. Had a colonopsy about 9 yrs ago. Was good. Scheduled for a yearly prostate exam this week. Last year PSA 2.

Brief Answer:
A rectal exam is required

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

These symptoms suggest local rectal problem. May be inflammatory or tumor. Absence of blood doesn't rule out tumor.

I would recommend a clinical exam of rectum along with office proctoscopy. it can be combined with the prostate exam. Most likely this will give the answer. If required, a colonoscopy can be done after that.

Hope this helps. I will be available for further follow up.
Regards
