Posted on Wed, 11 Jan 2017
Question: Yes,
About a week ago I woke up with a burning sensation in my right eye.
It felt like debris under my eyelid.
I rinsed it out and the first time I used visine it seemed to clear up some.
Now it is fogged up and I can't seem to clear it.

Brief Answer:
Need to be reviewed by an ophthalmologist to rule out conjunctivitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, it seems as if you are suffering from conjunctivitis which can be infective or allergic. Since it doesn't seem to be triggered by some specific kind of exposure or allergen, infective cause seems more likely.

It needs to be reviewed by an ophthalmologist for a detailed eye examination and a slit lamp examination to confirm the diagnosis. If it's confirmed it may need antibiotics eye drops as well as decongestants and anti inflammatory drops and oral meds.

Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen and anti histamines like cetrizine can be used for itching. Keep rinsing with cold water and wash hands thoroughly after touching the eyes to avoid spreading the infection to the other eye.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
