Question : Hi .. I had unprotected sex around 1month ago. Shortly after I developed a tender slight burning sensation in my penis. It has not got any worse there is no discharge and I have no other symptoms. I had a course of antibiotics from my doctor as I thought it may a water infection and it did not work. Recently I took a course of Azithromycin 250mg 4 tablets, I took the course yesterday 1000mg. Today I still feel some slight tenderness. Could you please offer me some advice.

Brief Answer:
You need to rule out STD and HIV with appropriate tests.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Burning sensation over penis without obvious external manifestation could be due to:
1. anxiety or STD Phobia.
2. A mild balanoposthitis due to yeast infection or due to some irritants (application)
3. Prodromal symptom of a HSV infection.
If your urine has no findings on investigations (no pus cells) Azithromycin would not of much use.
Anyhow as you had unprotected exposure, you have to rule out Other STDs and HIV with appropriate tests after the window period. Please seek the help of a Dermato-venereologist for further help. Avoid unprotected sex in future.
