What Causes Burning Sensation In Throat And Diarrhea?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jul 2015
Question: I ate something last night that was cooked in an oven that had been cleaned with chemicals a few days before. Since then I had had a slight burning sensation in the throat and loose stools. Pain isn't major but I thought I would ask what I should do to treat?

Brief Answer:
Please continue taking fluids and have home cooked non spicy food

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. What I feel is that the food itself might have been contaminated and not because of the chemicals in the oven as mentioned by you. However either situation can cause your symptoms. You have done the right thing by drinking lots of water and milk. Having fresh juices is also recommended in such a case.

2. Please have soft diet that is cooked in less oil and not spicy. This will give rest to the bowel and reduce irritation. Home cooked food is best suited for the next few days.

3. The food that you ate yesterday will probably be out of your system in 24 hours. I hope your loose motions have stopped completely. If you have loose motions continuing for longer than 24 hours then consulting a doctor becomes important. You should avoid getting dehydrated due to frequent loose motions.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
