Brief Answer:
Cephalexin needs more days

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

cephalexin needs at least a week to eradicate urinary tract infection and sometimes this is not enough. If you have seen no improvement after almost five days of treatment then perhaps your doctor should consider a more potent antibiotic like ciprofloxacin. It is a very potent antibiotic against common urinary tract pathogens and acts very fast. Sometimes a single dose can be enough to treat a cystitis but we usually prescribe it for 3 days.

Regarding your symptoms, you can take phenazopyridine for another couple of days, if you hadn't experienced any side effects the first time you took it. It is not supposed to interact with ciprofloxacin.

Kind Regards!

Brief Answer:
I can't help with the prescription

Detailed Answer:
I'm sorry but I can't help with the prescription. I can only provide my medical opinion about your case. If ciprofloxacin is available for you to buy (in my country its use is restricted and it can only be bought with a prescription) then it shouldn't cost you more than 15 dollars for a three day treatment according to my internet search.

You can also try some acetaminophen for the symptoms but don't expect too much and - of course - it's not curative.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
