Brief Answer:
Because it increases acidity of your stomach as it is carbonic acid.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concerns.

As per your query cabonated beverages are source of carbonic acid as soon as they reach your stomach they increase the acidic contents in your stomach.
You are a known case of Reflux disorder. The mucosal lining of stomach is built naturally to tolerate acid in stomach but mucosa of esophagus is severely irritated by acid refluxed back from stomach to esophagus. This irritation causes inflammation of the esophageal mucosa. This inflammation usually present with pain in chest.
When you take carbonated beverages the already inflammed esophageal mucosa is further irritated by acid refluxed into esophagus leading to pain and burning sensation in chest.

Omeprazole 40 mg is just a basic therapy for reflux disorder infact it only inhibit secretion of acid from parietal cells of stomach. It has no effect on acid reflux.Kindly ask you doctor to add a prokinetc drug like levosulpiride to prevent acid reflux.

Hope i answered your query well.
In case you need more details feel free to ask.

Warm Regards.
