Question : Hi I have had chest pain in the upper right abdomin that rotates to my shoulderblades. I have been for ultra sound scans on all my organs & bile duct for stones nothing was found. I also had a chest xray again nothing was found. My Gp has told me I am full of gas I am just concerned as I have had the pain for nearly 3 weeks it is worth when I am out in a windy day. What is your opion I had my gall bladder removed 6 years ago. I am 5ft 8 and weight 12 stone which is probably to big. It does get worth when I get stressed I also had a friend that died of estraophacus cancer so I think I also just worry. How long should I give the pain to settle I am 47 had a back op, endrimetrious removed from my bowel but other than these things that cant be helped I normally keep well. What do you think.

                                    Brief Answer:
It is GERD
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thank you for posting your question on Health Care Magic.
The symptoms you have described are in favour of GERD or gastero-oesophageal reflux disease.
The chest pain you feel is oesophageal spasm .
A normal ultrasound also supports this .
I would recommend you to take Tab Esmoperazole 40 mg once a day half an hour before food for 15 days.
Avoid spicy and oily food.
If you smoke then quit smoking.
Eat and sleep on time.
Don't sleep immediately after dinner there should be atleast 45 minutes gap .
After your symptoms settle down endoscopy is highly recommended.
Hope this helps
Best wishes

                                    Brief Answer:
Yes
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
The type of pain you have described is typically seen in GERD.
Take the tablet I prescribed you ,it should settle down in 10 days.
Then go in for an endoscopy.
As if now there is nothing to worry.
But an endoscopy to arrive at a proper diagnosis is required.
Best wishes
