What Causes Chest Pain With Jaw Pain, sweating, fatigue And Shoulder Pain?

default
Posted on Sat, 2 Aug 2014
Question: I was admitted to hospital with chest pain/jaw pain/sweating/fatigue/shoulder pain/ general unwell feeling and chills one month after a normal echocardiogram and ecgs and chest xrays

My troponin test was 44 I was given aspirin and kept in to repeat the test however the next blood test was under 10 which is normal and i was told it wasn't a heart attack and to go home.

a few weeks later after talking to my gp I was given a ct scan of my heart that was also normal
My bp is always ok and my cholesterol is fine and I think my thyroid is ok but my liver function was slightly only slightly raised

I am on propranolol for tachycardia

If it wasn't a heart attack why was my troponin raised? Why did it drop back down six hours later ?
I'm still suffering these symptoms everyday of my life I'm actually having to carry a towel with me my face sweats that much
I daren't go outside due to walking around my cause a heart attack
Am I on my way to a heart attack? I've heard people can be like this before a heart attack
My life feels ruined over the fear
Please help thank you x

Brief Answer:
Nothing indicates heart disease...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

I have gone through your medical history and understood your concerns.

Please bare in mind that having high troponin levels does not necessarily mean that you have myocardial infarction. Troponin levels can be raised in other conditions too.

Furthermore, troponin levels have been stabilized after 6 hours of reaching peak; which exclude myocardial damage (infarction).

You are asking if you had heart attack or are on the way to?
My answer is no. Your medical data, the results of examinations you did, being young and without having any risk factor for heart disease; all these data do not indicate for being at risk for heart disease.

So, no fear! Enjoy your long-life ahead fearless!

I was in a packed out cinema watching a film and i was having a panic attack and struggling with severe anxiety when i felt a pain from my chest shoot down my left arm like lightning it actually felt like it was travelling down my arm

That is when i headed to hospitsl and had a elevated troponin level

Could it be the fear ? Anxiety and panic ? That caused it to rise then return to normal?

Why everyday am i living with these a typical heart attack symptoms? Im constsntly sweating , i have palpatations, i have central chest pain that radiates to my left srm shoulder blade neck and jaw and i have blurred vision dizzyness and no appetite

My cardiologist refused a stress test saying it would give a false positive and there is no point after ive had in her words the better test in the ct scan of my heart

Could this all be anxiety making me believe im having a heart attack because of my fear of heart attacks ?

Brief Answer:
Following other causes to increased troponin level

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for following up.

Please bare in mind that troponin level might be increased due to other medical conditions:
- supra-ventricular tachycardia
- stress
- coronary spasms
- variant angina
- adrenergic hyper-stimulation

I advise to take stress test to get sure that you do not have any problem with your heart.

Meanwhile, I advise to try to control stress as it can aggravate your current problems.

Hope it answered to your queries!
