Brief Answer:
You can continue temperature monitoring and analgesics like acetaminophen

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what your husband had been experiencing lately.

Based on the history you have shared, it seems as if he can be having early signs of some underlying infection but as far now, their seems no immediate need for referral. You can continue temperature monitoring and during these chills episode, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can be used.

If any altered bowel or urinary habbits, or respiratory tract irritation or discomfort is felt, it may need to be looked into by a physicians review with a detailed clinical examination and to have basic blood work up done.

As far now, No immediate need of antibiotics or any other intervention required. Hope this has answered your query, Wishing him a quick recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.

Why would he need acetaminophen ? He has no pain. He is tired and cold. Temp does not get over 96.6 unless he drinks warm liquid. Then it goes to 97.6. He takes no medication.

Brief Answer:
It can be used even for subjective feeling of temperature

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Thanks for sharing the feedback. It's good that he doesn't use medicine unnecessarily and its allways better to avoid these unless needed however if the discomfort, or tiredness or lethargy is bothering him, acetaminophen can be of advantage as analgesics not only help with temperature, pain but with subjective feeling of temperature or lethargy or tiredness and taking one dose to look for any improvement isn't a bad idea. In long term supplements for B12, D3 and folic acid may also be of help. Temperature monitoring should be continued Meanwhile. If any new symptoms or worsening of condition occurs then he may need to seek a medical facility review for detailed examination and lab work up. Regards.
