Posted on Mon, 2 May 2016
Question: Thanks. Male, 64 years. Fever, chills and uncontrollable shaking (although not currently). Started feeling poorly approx 12 hours ago with the "chills". (I thought his color was a bit off 24 hrs.ie; pale). He now says that it has been uncomfortable with urinating the last couple of days and that his "kidneys hurt". Recently started taking red gynsing.

Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

The symptoms you have described are worrisome for an active infection. He may be dealing with a urinary tract infection or possibly an infection involving his kidney.

The fevers and shaking chills are most worrisome. In light of this I think he needs to be evaluated as soon as possible. If he does have an active infection then antibiotics should be administered as soon as possible.

thank you again for sending the question. Again please have him evaluated as soon as possible by a local physician or emergency room physician.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
