1. Kindly visit an ENT Specialist who can examine you and ascertain the source of the mucus.

2. An anti-allergic, mucolytic, anti-refux medication with steam inhalation will settle most case of gagging on mucus in the night.

3. Since we swallow less in the night while sleeping, mucus accumulates in the back of the throat and commonly causes such gagging sensations.
