Brief Answer:
Increase the dose of Lactulose

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I presume proper evaluation for constipation has been done and causes like Hirschsprung disease and hypothyroidism has been ruled out.

Functional constipation is the most common cause of constipation in children. Most often it is due to poor toilet training. Give him enough fluids, fruits and vegetables. Give him prune juice which provides good relief.

You have mentioned, you have given him 5 ml of lactulose. The usual recommended dose is 1 ml per kg. So increase the dosage.

Dr.R.K.
