Question: My son 18 athlete in good condition. Has been having a chronic cough 8 months now. He coughs so hard he vomits. He has been to Dr for 4 rounds of steroids, perspiration cough meds , antibiotics etc. He has never had signs of a cold. He has high blood pressure and high heart rate.excessive sweating. Went through heart tests said heart was healthy. at that time he had hyperthyroid.Watched it then said normal. Now normal with high antibodies. He has also had asthma tests that were normal I have hashimotos which was undiagnosed for 6 years. My husbands family all has thyroid conditions. This cough is really constant and not sure what to do next. Will thyroid meds help?

Brief Answer: Sputum analysis and Chest CT Detailed Answer: Hi.Thanks for writing on HCM. Cough is not associated with high thyroid levels and does not subside on taking medications for hyperthyroidism. High heart rate is due to hyperthyroidism.High BP is possibly due to the steroid medication and high thyroid levels. I were to evaluate by doing a sputum analysis and chest CT to rule out any local lung pathology. Hope this answers your query.
