Question : I noticed that one of my salivary glands was dark red two days ago. I have been using chewing tobacco for about a year now so it makes me more concerned than it normally would. I immediately stopped using tobacco. can you tell me what is wrong with my gland? I am attaching two pictures.
Brief Answer:
chronic infection of the salivary gland.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,thanks for your query.
Observing your pictures,in my opinion i probably
feel you have chronic infection of your salivary gland.
it can be because of chewing tobacco or salivary calculi.
if i were your treating doctor,i would have clinically
examined you, felt for the calculi per orally, if present would have removed it by marsipulization under local anaesthesia.
if there is no calculi, then would have advised you with antibiotics+anti inflammatory medicines to reduce the infection.
all this needs expert evaluation.so do consult you doctor and discuss my views with him.
hope my answers have helped you.thanks.
