Question : I have had a pain in my left groin for several months now. I went to a doctor and they took xrays and ran blood tests...nothing vascular or nothing they could see on xrays. Blood tests showed nothing that would cause groin pain. Doc did a movement test to make sure it was not my hip. It continues. Interferes with sleep and getting comfortable. My question is, what causes groin pain and what can I do about it?

Brief Answer:
You need to get an MRI scan.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there, Yes I have read your query and i'm here to help.

Groin pain may be due to many reasons it may be due to just pulled muscle hairline fracture, grade I Avascular necrosis of hip, sometimes it may also be due to ovarian cyst, inguinal hernia.

Although your doctor didn't find anything on X-ray and physical examination but still there are many ways to diagnose the problem.

If I're your treating doctor I would like to advice you for an MRI scan of hip joint as in some cases groin pain may be due to grade 1 avascular necrosis of hip, which is causing pain.

We can't diagnose it on simple X-ray .

So please get the MRI scan done and send me the report.

If a MRI scan doesn't show anything then you may have a cyst or hernia in lower abdomen which may cause referred pain in groin, for which you have to undergo ultrasonography.

Till then, instead of Ibuprofen, take tab. Aceclofenac 100mg + Serratiopeptidase 15mg thrice a day by prescription of your treating doctor.

Avoid squatting and running.

Apply hot packs.

I hope you got your answer, feel free to get back in case of any doubts.

Thanks,
