What Causes Cold And Cough After Discontinuation Of Fruselac?

In year 2013 My father suffered mild heart attack. After performing Angiography,we found that his main artery is only 30%blocked.one minor is 70% blocked n 3rd one is 100%.Doctor suggested that he should stay on medications n der is no need for stent etc
The latest EF is 52%.Earlier it was 56% before heart attack.. He is on following medicines:
Morning: Nitrofix20,Losar50,Carca 12.5
Noon:1/2 lasix,Livogen
Evening: Nitrofix20 and 1/2 Fruselac
Post Dinner: Deplatt A, Losar50, Carca12.5, Orvas20
In the last 1year we have seen an increase in creatinine levels and decrease in hb.The current levels as on 30th April are Creatinine 1.36,ESR:115 and HB:10(HB was decreasing frm last 1year and was at 9.5 in March..dis is D first time it has increased)
Kidney Specialist has asked for few more blood tests and has asked to stop Fruselac as it put pressure on heart due to potassium levels.
But,whenever my dad stops Fruselac, he develops cold n cough after 4 to 5 days(we stopped Fruselac 2times)
Pls suggest is this cold n cough is due to water retention in lungs due to stoppage of Fruselac or is it a mere coincidence.
Shall we continue taking Fruselac or stop this.Yesterday he has taken again.
please give more informations on kidney related tests

Hello Madam XXXXXXX
I am Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD.
Thanks for using HCM.
I have gone through your query.
As I analyse case of your father I get following detail.
1.He has Ischaemic heart disease with one heart attack, but preserved pumping ability of heart.LVEF 52% is quite satisfactory. He has to continue life long medication for the same.
2.He has low hemoglobin. The cause of this anemia should be investigated.Has he bleeding piles or an ulcer in intestine leading to blood loss?He should be evaluated for this.
3.Mild functional impairment of kidneys. It is not very clear for the reports of creatinine whether he has kidney impairment or not ? please get his Ultrasound of kidneys to know size and other details of kidney.
4.I presume that the cough may be due to diastolic dysfunction of heart and stopping fruselac leads to coughing.I suggest to increase dose of lasix from half to one .As lasix is too a diuretic which will not increase potassium.
5.Cold and cough may be totally from different cause which may need further evaluation
My best wishes
Dr.Teli.

Heart has normal pumping efficiency
Detailed Answer:
hello,
I have gone through all reports.
He has significant diffuse blocks in his coronaries ,but the type and extent of blocks are such that they have to be managed with medications .His coughing may be due to diastolic dysfunction.I suggest that he should be given higher dose of Lasix. At the same time please rule out other causes of cough and cold with help of blood tests like hemogram with ESR and Xray chest PA.
He will need regular follow up and dose adjustments, also watch his BP.It should remain below 130/80.Also watch his Lipids .His LDL shold be below 70 and S.Cholesterol below 150 and HDL should remain above 35.
My best wishes
Dr.Teli.
