?? Suspecting shingles, but I have listed a number of other causes as well

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. In my opinion, the most likely cause is shingles, which can remain dormant in the body for years and decades on, and become active every time your immunity drops like when you have a mild infection or are even under a lot of stress. But just for your reference I shall go ahead and list all the possibilities in my opinion, based on the symptoms you are currently experiencing:

+Shingles (most likely)
+Rocky mountain spotted fever
+Lupus
+Mononucleosis
+Coxsackie virus
+Roseola
+Fifth disease

Do find time to schedule an appointment with your doctor and visit him/her during your earliest convenience, so you can find relief from the current presentation at the earliest.

I hope you find my information helpful. Please do schedule an appointment with a doctor, and get the required medical attention you need sir. Please also do not hesitate to write to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
