Question : I am currently being treated 4 depression with severe anxiety taking seroxet increased from 20mg to 30mg. Have been given quetiapin for the anxiety.and finding the side effects very bad I take 25mg nightly after which I fall asleep quickly but the following day am stupified until after lunch, am weak and lightheaded .I have diazepam 2mg to take when needed, but try not to if possible,and also propranol 40 mg if needed.my question is which if any of these causes a cold sweat about 30 mins after eating. My appetite has dropped and I feel full after eating small amounts

Thanks for writing to us.

None of the drug directly causes sweat after eating. But yes these drugs can cause fluctuation in blood pressure which may cause low blood pressure and cold sweat. Need regular check up of blood pressure in supine and standing position.

However specific cold sweat after 30 minutes of eating can be due to diabetic autonomic neuropathy. Please go for fasting blood sugar level and Hb1ac check up to rule out diabetes. Sometime hypoglycaemia also leads to such problem.

Other possibility is hyperthyroidism. Please go for serum TSH level.

Your loss of appetite can be due to seroxat.

I think taking diazepam will help you, do not hesitate to take it.

Do not take propranolol as it reduces blood pressure.
