Question: I had the flu with 101 temp.,lots of sneezing and coughing with ivory flem up unitl 2 weeks ago. A few days after recovering, I notice body aches all over. It felt like I had a 3 hr work out at the gym the day before. I hadn't been to the gym in a month. This is better now. But, also, a few days later, I noticed pain in my abdomen after taking a deep breath. I've had this a week now and wondering what this abdomen pain is? Btw, I still have a minor cough with small amount flem. I have reduced sneezing, but still sneezing quite a bit. I'm 51 and never had this happen before. Thank you. XXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, it seems as if either it is partially treated respiratory tract infection which is troubling you or it be any sequelae of that.

As any lower respiratory tract infection or pneumonia can cause pneumothorax which can cause such pains on breathing. You need to have a chest X-ray at the earliest to rule it out. It may need surgical internevntion in such cases.

It can be simply a pleurtic chest pain or due to irritation of diaphragm and can be picked up if any patch or consolidation is noted on chest X-ray and will respond to a course of antibiotics like Co-Amoxyclav or Azithromycin along with anti inflammatory drugs like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Regards.
