Brief Answer:
Looks like viral illness - do not use antibiotics for one day fever

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness.

Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day.

If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics (LIKE CEFIXIME - THIS IS USED FOR TYPHOID) at all. PLEASE DO NOT USE ANTIBIOTICS FOR ONE DAY FEVER.

Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.

In my above explanation I have suggested you how a viral illness behaves, so that you can be more confident.

Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose (maximum ceiling dose of 500mg) every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.

Thanks Sir for your reply.
But I am worried because of the temperature not came down below 100 for at least 4 hour. Just after 2 hours of giving paracetamol ,temperature again raise above 100 deg. So she is not active till the fever came on yesterday. she also had a pain in her forehead and had a vomiting tendency...
So Sir please suggest what should do...

Brief Answer:
Suggestions on viral illness

Detailed Answer:
Hi...I understand your concern. But in viral illness fever will be like this only for the first two or three days, later on only from the 4th to 6th day the fever will start coming down.

When the fever starts coming down there can be cough and cold also. So I suggest you wait for another 3-4 days if the kid is active in between two fever episodes.

During the initial 2 days even though you give Paracetamol it will work only for 2 hours or 3 hours. But you should be giving another dose of Paracetamol with a minimum gap of 4 hours. Please do not give Paracetamol before this.
