Question : I have had saline breast implants over the muscle for 16 years. The past few weeks my left breast is hurting constantly. Even if I brush it against something it hurts...I am also feeling pain in the left elbow area. Really want to get these out and be comfortable. I have not had a mammogram...ever due to having implants because I am embarrassed and afraid they would pop (know it is silly). I just turned 46. Are there risks with implant removal?

                                    Brief Answer:
Breast implant removal is risk free.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Now a days, breast implant removal is common. It is risk free.
Implant is removed when contracture develops or ruptures.
If you want it to be replaced, it can also be done.
However before you decide to remove it, I will suggest we first get an ultrasound of the breast along with a clinical examination by a surgeon. If the symptoms are proved to be due to implant, you can proceed with its removal.
I am not aware of various clauses and conditions that are covered under your insurance. Please call your insurance provider to get those details.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
