What Causes Constant Pain In Abdomen With History Of Inguinal Hernia?

Question: Hello.

Excuse me about my english.

I have had a terrible constant pain in my stomach the whole year, and I made a lot of test diagnostics and they didn't see anything.

But in December my doctor order abdominal CT angiogram that shows a right inguinal hernia with fat. The doctor says that perhaps the hernia was incarcerated and he sends me to a surgery.

I have had an inguinal hernia surgery 7 weeks ago. The hernia had the size of a tennis ball

After the surgery the pain has lowered in about a 70%, but I have a persistent symptom, that is a terrible pressure sensation below my belly button, all the days after eating I have an increase of this pressure and a tachycardia (I had this symptom before the surgery also).

I want to ask you how long will the pain last after the inguinal hernia surgery?, is it normal that discomfort lasts more than 7 weeks?.

Thank you very much

Brief Answer:
Depends upon multiple factors; normally starts improving in 4-6 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. There could be a number of factors on which healing depends and also depends upon the surgery. Normally pain starts improving in 4-6 weeks. If by chance nerve entrapment occurs due to surgery then pain may continue till the time that nerve compression is relieved. First we should look after basic causes. Have you undergone diagnostic Endoscopy for evaluation of upper GU tract? If yes then please share the report. Pain in stomach region could be due gastritis as well. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things:

- Sucralfate suspension thrice a day for 7 days.
- Omeprazole once a day for 10 days.

> AVOID:
fatty & oily food.
spices
heavy meals at night
carbonated & caffeine drinks
chocolates

If pain persists then i would suggest you to get an appointment with a gastroenterologist as he is specialized in dealing with Gastrointestinal tract(including stomach).

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

Hello.
I have done endoscopy and colonoscopy: negative, blood work: negative, celiac: negative, stool test: negative.
All test done in this year, all negatives, except the right inguinal hernia.
Do you think 7 weeks is too much time for healing?, must I wait more time?.

Brief Answer:
Wait with general care for another week would be enough

Detailed Answer:
hello

thank you for the followup query.

General care mentioned above and adequate rest for another week would be sufficient time for healing and improvement. If still your symptoms persists then you need to visit your doctor for workup.
