Question : i'm having constant pain in urethra when sitting or lying down when i stand up pain subsided. also frequent urination about every 2hrs. no pain during urination and no discharge. tested for chlamydiae, gonorrhea and sphylsis all negative. had a ua all clear.
what could this be
Brief Answer:
Chronic urethritis/prostate issues...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Constant pain in urethra and frequent urination are signs of chronic urethritis, not necessarily related to STDs. Common bacterial infections might be a cause. However, first must be properly diagnosed by culturing the urethral swab and sensitivity testing to determine the right antibiotic.
Prostate problems can also be a cause. Therefore, abdominal ultrasound together with digital examination are necessary to rule them out. At your age, enlarged prostate is commonly occurring with symptoms similar to yours.
Depending on the results of the above-mentioned tests, specific antibiotics would be prescribed together with any other specific prostate drugs (if needed).
I also advise to
- take anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen) along with antibiotic treatment.
- Drink plenty of water
- avoid coffee, energetic drinks
- keep good hygiene of your genitalia
- avoid sex while symptoms improve
Hope it helped! Let me know if you have more queries!
