Question: Hi, I suffer constant whole body sweating, fatigue, can't lose weight but unless I watch my diet it goes on easily, have memory and concentration issues, mood swings, depression episodes. Despite constant thyroid testing which result in both and positive and negative the explanation being that yes thyroid disorder will develop but is not active now. So the diagnosis of menopause, bed spite having had a full hysterectomy at age 42 ( I am 62 now) and going through menopause for 5 yrs then. I had hormone implants for 1yr at that time but went treatment free from there. I am taking Pyroxitiene for the sweats and depression Helps the depression but not the sweats. Do I have aThyroid disorder. I believe I do and if so what can I do/take to help with the sweat etc as I have reached the den of my ability to cope after 3yrs.

Brief Answer:
Your reports required

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

You indeed seem to be quite disgusted with your symptoms. Let me try to help you out of this.

Yes, your symptoms do fit into the menopausal syndrome, however, why after a gap of so many years. You had menopausal syndrome for which you had undergone hormone replacement therapy for 1 year after having suffered from the menopausal syndrome for 5 years. You had symptom free period for some time and then the symptoms have returned.

May I know the following?

1. What medicines you were taking for menopausal syndrome. I believe they were in the form of implants.
2. When did you get the implant removed?
3. You were symptom free for how long?
4. Precisely since when you are having all the symptoms that you have mentioned?
5. Your statement about weight needs to be clarified more. Are you loosing your weight despite of eating or the other way round?

Also, the statement that thyroid testing is both positive and negative is indeed confusing. Thyroid testing reports are in the levels (in numbers) and not as positive and negative. Please get your fasting blood examined for T3, T4 and TSH. I would request you to upload the Thyroid reports, in fact all your reports for me to review. Also please get your complete haemogramme done and upload that also.

Also inform me about certain clinical findings:

1. Are your eye balls bulging out?
2. Close your eyes, stretch your arms, palms and fingeers. Let some one watch whether the fingers tremble.
3. Close your eyes and put your tongue our long and ask someone to observe whether the toungue vibrates.
4. Please ask some one to take your resting pulse. Count the pulse early in the morning while you are still asleep. Does not matter if you wake up during this. The pulse should be counted for full one minute.

I do understand that your perseverance has put to the maximum test. Please let me have a look at all your reports and clinical findings before I opine and advise. Prima facae from your description, it appears to be Hypothyroidism.

If you have any other relevant information to share with me, you are most welcome. If you want to ask some more questions, I am always available for you, XXXX.
