What Causes Constant Urge To Urinate And Pain Around Kidney And Bladder?

default
Posted on Thu, 27 Aug 2015
Question: I've been taking meloxicam and co codamol for a back problem since last Friday and yesterday out of the blue started having pains around my kidney bladder area and a desperate need to urinate all the time. The pain can be severe and comes in waves, but the need to urinate hasn't gone away. Had a urine test at doctors and it came up clear. He suspects kidney stones but is puzzled as to why there is no blood in my urine. Lying in the bath and constantly utinate helps with the pain. I stopped taking meloxicam yesterday as I thought it may have caused irritation somehow. Taken more co codamol to deaden the pain about 2 hours ago.

Brief Answer:
Kidney stone not always with urine

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

in your case a kidney stone may be the reason for the pain, not always it shows blood in the urine test. However most smaller stones pass by itself. The only way to diagnose them is through low dose CT scan. In your case it is recommendabl to drink a lot of fluid and take pain medication. Meloxicam may affect kidney function so switching to codamol is ok.

If this doesnt improve within 2-3 days see your doc again to reevaluate about CT scan or other pain medication.

Best regards
