Question : I am having a problem with being constipacted and am now impacted and vomiting. I am looking for things at home that might help. i have taken magnesium, fiber pills, a laxative and was considering taking my husbands medicinemesalamine rectal suspension but wondered what else i can do. wait at er in my area is long so dont want to go there unless absolutely necesessary.
i think the constipation occured because i had oral surgery and laid around for about four days with very little fluids.
taking opiod pain meds during that time also did not help. i am off of them for last 48 hours

Brief Answer:
going to Emergency is best
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If you are so impacted that you are vomiting it may be not just constipation but some other sort of bowel obstruction. You can try relieving this with an enema at home but if you are not having bowel movements and an end to the vomiting very soon you really need to go to Emergency. If you develop pain or fever then go to Emergency right away. Bowel obstruction can be treated in the early stages but in the worst can can require a surgery, so don't let this drag on too long. If you do not get relief soon go to Emergency.
I hope you are feeling better soon.
