Posted on Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Question: Hi. I've been taking thyronorm 100 mcg for the past 3 years. Recently I've got hypothyroid symptoms again. My hair is falling, I'm constipated. My TSH is normal, but my T3 levels are low. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
T3 supplementation is required

Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam

I can certainly understand your concern.

You possibly require supplementation with Liothyronine supplementation along with thyronorm.

In few individuals with hypothyroidism, both T3 and T4 can be low, therefore both should be supplemented externally.

Thyronorm provides T4 and Liothyronine provides T3.

It's advisable to start Liothyronine at low doses of 25mcg once daily.Further dose adjustment can be made based on the response and laboratory profile.

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these pills to you.

Post your further questions if any.
Thank you.
