Question : Could my husband be allergic to my XXXXXXX plant? I think it might be something else. He has no problem with foods containing XXXXXXX He has only been ill for the last few days. Coughing, sneezing, coughing up green phlegm. Today he woke up with very red eyes. Has spent 2 whole days in bed. Gets a little better and then gets worse. I think he needs doctor. He says get rid of plant. Which I did today. Have had plant in house since late October. Symptoms are recent, but he has complained about plant since I brought it in from the garden. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am sorry to hear that your husband is feeling so ill. It may be possible that he does have an allergy to the XXXXXXX plant, however it is equally possible that the symptoms may be due to an infection or other cause. It is impossible to definitively determine which is the cause without a good physical examination and possibly adjunct laboratory tests. I hope he may be amenable to seeing a physician if his symptoms don't improve soon. It was also very considerate of you to remove the plant.
