Brief Answer:
It can be pinched nerve or reduced blood supply.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Two important causes which can lead to such radiating pain and pain on walking some distance with muscular cramps are pinched nerve due to slipped disc or reduced blood supply down the limb.Of this slipped disc is more likely in your cases.

In slipped disc additional symptoms can be tingling, burning and numbness.

In reduced blood supply additional symptoms can be cooled limb, bluish discoloration of skin, more symptoms in cold, pain relieved on some rest and fragile nails etc.

So i would suggest to take second opinion and discuss with doctor about this two possibilities.

Mean while oral painkillers can help to some extent. Regards
