Question : My daughter-in-law has been breast feeding her daughter by pumping milk and is now running low at the 11 month. So, she put in 1/2 ounce of whole milk with the breast milk and the baby has been crying for 2 hours, has cramping, broke out in hives on her back and vomitted. Is this a milk allergy or lactose intolerance or just too early for regular milk?

                                    Brief Answer:
Milk
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
Your daughter in law deserves a lot of credit for breastfeeding for 11 and 1/2 months.
It is not too early for milk. By it is premature to diagnose the baby with milk allergy or lactose intolerance.
I recommend feeding the baby milk that is not mixed with breast milk, 2-3 times. If there is no reaction, then youre good. If there is a reaction, I recommend soy milk until the baby's next visit with the pediatrician. At that visit, this issue can be discussed.
