Question : I drank to much whiskey last night, today now being 22 hours later I feel like my skin is crawling, I took 20 mg of valium and 100 mg of atenolol to see if it would help nearly an hour ago and still no relief , heart rate is fine and blood pressure is slightly elevated, is this normal
Brief Answer:
Possibly alcohol withdrawal
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM
The crawling feeling on skin you are experiencing is likely due to withdrawing from alcohol. This is a possibility if you have been taking alcohol on long-term basis.
Even though treatment for alcohol withdrawal is with valium, you should not self-medicate at home. Valium has concerning side effects including respiratory depression and coma. So please be advised to follow up with the emergency room for appropriate management.
