What Causes Crepitus In The Knee Joint After A Total Knee Replacement Surgery?

default
Posted on Thu, 14 Sep 2017
Question: I had a Tkr XXXXXXX 29 of this year. Things were progressing very well nail my PT pushed knee to 120 and held it there. After that I hspad bad pain and snapping of possibly my patella and can see knee cap actually moving up and over to one side while making loud snapping noises and causing extreme pain. It happens mostly after my knee is in one position, either blended or straight for a period of time and then go to get up and have to bend my knee to do so. My surgeon said he could not see any movement 2 weeks ago but it has gotten much worse recently. Do you think an MRI would help diagnose problem or have you seen this before?

Brief Answer:
Can be a ligament injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The overstretching of the knee joint during PT might have caused a soft tissue damage or ligament injury that is causing you the pain now. Doing quadriceps drill exercise can help.
A replaced knee should not distort the MRI scan image as it is a non ferrous implant. You can consult a radiologist and enquire if it is possible for proper diagnosis.
I hope this answers your query.
