Question : Hi I have had dark brown semen for approx 4 to six months, in the beginning it was more of a pinkish color. I have had no discomfort nor other physical symptoms. I am 71 yrs old very active for my age i.e. Open water simming 2 miles weekly plus heavy weight training 3 times weekly running 3 miles after weight training at approx 8 to 9 min per mile. I don't have any physical symptoms except now dark brown color semen. Can you provide any information

Mostly due to infection of Prostate associated with enlarged Prostate.

Thanks for query ,

Dark brown semen at the age of 71 years without having any alarming symptoms could be mostly due to Infection of Prostate (Prostatitis) associated with Enlarged Prostate which is common at this age .

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Semen Examination and semen culture .

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
