Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
This abnormal bleeding pattern is definitely a matter of concern.
I would suggest you to get your thyroid hormone levels and prolactin levels tested and update me with results.
It is most probably related to thyroid hormone levels.
But in case both the hormones are normal then we will get pelvic ultrasound to see for status of ovaries and endometrial thickness which can be deranged as you already have PCOD.
Keep taking thyroxine and metformin as prescribed till the reports are here with us.
All the best.

Detailed Answer:
Then you need to get worked up for PCOD and get an ultrasound of pelvic organs so that status of ovaries and endometrial thickness can be assessed.
This altered blood flow pattern in periods is a hallmark of PCOD.
Our next step of management is will be based on findings of ultrasound.
I'm case ultrasound has features suggestive of PCOD then hormone profile will be tested and then according to those hormones you will be put on oral pills and metformin for 3-6 months to be supplemented with weight loss.
But in case ultrasound is normal then I will recommend you to take progesterone in last ten days of each cycle so that the bleeding pattern gets regulated by regulating the hormone mileau of your body in right way.
Take care.

can it be a sign of early pregnancy?

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
It can be early pregnancy but ever since you have had history of PCOD chances of pregnancy are meagre.
Moreover you need to go for ultrasound otherwise also which will detect pregnancy along with other pathology if any but in case you have any doubt you can do urine pregnancy test and be double sure.
I hope I have answered your question but in case you have any other query I will be happy to help.
