default
Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
Question: I took 2 tablespoons of peptides bismol because of some painful gas 5 days ago. Ever since my stool has been dark greenish. I thought the effect would be gone and I'm getting worried. The consistency and frequency is normal. I have eaten some green foods most every day and I have blueberries every morning do I don't know if this is prolonging the effect of the pepto.

Brief Answer:
Effect of food items

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Green stool is not a thing to worry about.
Only black stool is a thing to worry about. Black, tarry, sticky offensive stool indicates internal bleed.

But green stool indicates either increased bile or may be due to green food items.
If it is due to increased bile, the stool would be loose.
But in your case, it is well formed. So the most likely cause for your green stool is the food you have taken.

I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
