Brief Answer:
Management of melasma

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photographs and it is melasma.
It has multiple causes. It can be due to hormonal changes in body, intake of oral contraceptive pills, thyroid disorders, hereditary and most of the times the cause couldn't be found out.
If I was her treating doctor I would recommend her to use a cream containing combination of tretinoin, hydroquinone and flucinolone acetonide on the pigmented areas at bed time along with application of a broad spectrum sunscreen on the entire face at intervals of 3-4 hours during the day time.
I would also recommend her to take tablet tranxaemic acid 250 mg twice daily.
These are prescription drugs and should be used under the supervision of the doctor.
It has been seen that the pigmentation usually disappears after treatment of 4-6 months but the chances of recurrence are very high.

Brief Answer:
Triglow cream or lumacip plus cream, suncros soft gel

Detailed Answer:
Many brands containing this combination are available in the market like triglow cream or lumacip plus cream.
You can use either of the above at bedtime.
Suncros soft sunscreen gel can be used as a regular sunscreen.
Melasma is not risky to the body.
It is more of a cosmetic concern.
In persons not getting desired results with oral and topical medicines, chemical peels and lasers can be tried for permanent resolution.
Tranxaemic acid can be taken for 4-6 months but under doctor's supervision.
