Posted on Fri, 13 Mar 2015
Question: I have two large dark reddish purple splotches that appeared overnight, on both sides of my neck. They don't seem to hurt, itch or have any bumps on them. What could they be & how can I treat it? Please let me know how to send you a picture of them for accurate diagnosis

No fever. Started birth control pill about a month ago & started using a wart removing cream my doctor prescribed to me (I don't know the name offhand and I'm not able to check right now). You think it's an allergic reaction? How do I make it go away? I applied Neosporin.!

Brief Answer:
stop neosporin

I have gone through your question and I understood your problem.

Well hormones are not the ones who are causing this. They are safe. But neosporin can cause it. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a fungal infection or a different bacterial skin infection. Also it can cause rash over skin.

So I suggest you to stop applying neosporin as soon as possible.Topical steroids will further help reduce it.Use Betnovate ointment and if not responding to this oral steroids can be started . anti-inflammatory drugs like levo-cetrizine will also help reducing the symptoms.

All these should only be taken after discussing this with your dermatologist.
Anything else you want to ask?
Thank you.
