What Causes Dark Skin In Pubic Area?

Question : I am a 55 year old Causcasion female. I have noticed that the skin in my genital area has turned very dark, almost black. Is this cause for concern?

Let me assure you that it is not at all concerning. It is due to increase in certain sex hormones that stimulate the melanocytes (the cells that produce the pigments that darken our skin) and thereby may make the skin around the genitals dark. No need to worry about it.
