Question: Hi Doc,

I had my scan at 16th week on sat and scan report suggest that there is decresed interval growth by 1 week ,however the baby parameters are normal . My doc said not to worry too much about it .but she asked me to take protein and also increase calcium to 2 tablets per day,1 tablet iron and 1 tablet nutri cell.

Also there was decreased AFI ,it was measuring 9.5 and doc suggested to have loads of fluid and also prescribed duphaston tablets 1 per day as i complained of tightness in stomach sometimes.

1.now my questiom to u is, is 1 or 2 weeks delay in growth ok? Since i ovulated late cid this be causing 1 week growth delay?

2.Also tell me if duphaston is ok to take so late in pregnancy? I underatand that it is advisable to take only iron?calcium n multivitamins during pregnancy as far as possible.

3. As per my docs suggestion drinking lot of fluid will increase Amniotic fluid and asked me to continue rest . Please let me know how to prevent further reduction in AFI and what might have caused this?

Brief Answer:
One to 2 weeks growth difference on ultrasound scan is fine

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,

Good to kow you have reached 16 weeks. Thats a good development.

1) In second trimester, one to 2 week delay is normal. There is nothing to worry.

2) Duphaston is not required as of now. Stop it. Iron Calcium and ecosprin are enough ( ecosprin is not compulsory though).

3) Amniotic fluid with AFI 9.5 cms is normal and nothing wrong. Your doctor might have had good intention of increasing it further. You cannot do anything actively as of now. Dont worry about it.

Everything is going on well and there is nothing to worry about.
