Question : I had a recent knee replacement (1 wk). I've had to use stronger pain drugs- Borvo and anti-inflammatories. Within last 24 hours I noticed decreased urine. If I take in more water will that help flush the kidneys?

Brief Answer:
You should drink more water

Detailed Answer:
Hello madam,
I understand your concern. some time when we do not take enough water then it can cause decrease urine out put. I would suggest you to drink 3 to4 littre water per day. It will definitely increase urine out put and will wash all the drugs from urine. I would suggest you to take Tramadol or morphine as pain killer rather then anti inflammatory as latter are more toxic for kidney and cause low urine. You can discuss about that with your doctor.
If your urine out put does not improve after that then you should get kidney function test. These tests include blood urea and creatinine . In poor kidney functioning their value increases. This will tell us if there is anything wrong with kidney.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any followup questions. I will try my best to help you.
Thanks.
