                                            Question : hello
I am having PCOS and have been taking pills since it was detected to regulate my periods. Now that I have come overseas, I was prescribed Meprate 10mg by my gynecologist before coming here. I recently had a protected sex with my husband and took Meprate the next day just because I didnt have any contraceptive at that time with me. Now I have finished taking the tablets and usually after having taken the tablets I used to get my periods within 3 days. Now its been 5 days and I haven't got my periods; but I am feeing menstrual cramps in the pelvic region, my breasts have started to get slightly sore, I have had a bad stomach since last two days and have having slight secretions as well, so I kinda got a little concerned.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
In my opinion meprate tablet if taken for withdrawal bleeding might result in period within 3-10 days.
But i would like to know the following things for better suggestions:-
1)Since how many years you are on pills for pcod? And on what pills you were?
2)What protection during intercourse you have taken?
3)when was your last period?
4)What is your height and weight?
5)When was the pcod diagnosed?
6)When was the meprate prescribed to you?
Kindly provide me the information.
Looking forward to hear from you.

                                    Brief Answer:
Wait for spontaneous onset of period
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for the information.I understand your concern.
It is good to know that your height and weight are appropriate.
In my opinion i suggest you to do a urine pregnancy test to rule out the pregnancy first though it is a rare possibility as the intercourse was protected.
If negative wait for spontaneous onset of period. As sometimes it might take upto 3-10 days due to hormonal variation.
The sore breasts, discomfort in pelvic region might be seen in premenstrual period too.So dont worry.
Usually combined hormonal pills are given for 4-6 months for pcod.
Long term intake of hormonal pills might be associated with sideeffects.
So repetition of ultrasound might be needed to know the status of pcod rather than using the medicines continuously.
Adapt a healthy lifestyle like exercise daily and healthy nutritional diet.
Avoid stress as it might also delay the period due to hormonal imbalance.
