What Causes Delay In Menstruation Cycle After Using Mirena?
Question: I a 25 yr old female, have a 2 yr old daughter, and since her birth have been on the Mirena; with no periods. In the last week I have had aches in my lower ab and woman parts; have had on and off again nausea; and am now lactating with tender breast. About 2 months ago I had a ovarian cyst rupture which caused me to pass out and hit by head which was diagnose as concussion. All that had come out clear; but, I can't see my doctor till end of week and am worried...could I be pregnant? or what else? Thank you

Mirena is a very effective (>99%) contraception. Pregnancy is a extremely slim possibility. However to confirm /refute it, first get a pregnancy test done.
If pregnancy test is negative then The possible cause for these sumptoms that you have could be ;
-pelvic infection . Do you have vaginal discharge, itching etc
- recurrence of ovarian cyst.
-appendicitis ( infection of the appenfix)
-Migration of Mirena into the abdomen ( a very slim possibility).
Therefore if the home pregnancy test is negative please go to the emergency room to be evaluated for the above possible causes for your symptoms.
