What Causes Delay In Menstruation, Slight Bleeding After Intercourse?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 Dec 2014
Question: Me and my boyfriend tried to have sex on 8/11 with condom. But since it hurt me a lot he could not penetrate much, probably very little. But I saw very little blood when I wiped after I peed that night. After that nothing of such sort has happened. My period date is regular and 17/11 was my due date and I have missed it. I have not yet taken a pregnancy test? Should I or is it too early? Can I be pregnant? Please help me, I am very freaked out after missing the date?

Brief Answer:
Did he ejaculate? What was the date of your last menses?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

In order to respond fully to your question about possible pregnancy, I will like to know if your partner ejaculated. Also, are you having any symptoms like dizziness, nausea, anorexia, vomiting?

It is not strange for menses to delay by a few days. However, if we need a settled mind and no further probability, getting a pregnancy test would be the gold standard. I will recommend that you wait for at least another week and if your menses do not show up, then do a pregnancy test.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. I look forward to hear from you so as to provide more helpful information and suggestions.

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for replying me back. The date of my last menses was 17th October and I am not sure if he ejaculated(I mean we did not reach to that level). He even had condoms on all the time.I am not having any pregnancy related symptoms as of now.Should I do a pregnancy test tomorrow? I am really worried. I don't wanna get pregnant. What could be the possible solutions?

Looking forward to hear from you soon

Brief Answer:
Please, stay calm and relax.....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If he had condoms on, then the chances of being pregnant are very slim. I will suggest that you get relaxed and monitor rather than getting worried. You are very unlikely to be pregnant at this time. If you want a rapid resolution of any doubts, you may do a pregnancy test right away.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.

Hello Doctor,

As you said that if I have any doubts I can do a pregnancy test. I did and it turned out to be negative, but it has been five days that I have missed my periods. Is there any way or any medicine that I can take to get my period immediately. How long should I wait?

Thanking you

Brief Answer:
Wait up to the next expected menses!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

There is no emergency in provoking menses at this time. My advice is to wait up to the next expected menses before seeking any further medical attention for this. It is not uncommon to find delayed and missed menses that have no medical explanation and would resolve spontaneously with time.

I hope this helps. Keep me updated. I wish you well.
