Question : Hello
I am 34 and have not got my period for almost 2 months, took several pregnancy test and show not pregnant! In last 3 days i start spotting with dark brown blood (very little ). My doc is out of town I made appointment for next week but I am not sure if I should wait that long? and I don't want to go to theemergency room don't have any pain or anything. ??
Should I start getting concern??

Delayed period can be due to different possible causes including: (a) pregnancy but this has been ruled out
(B)emotional stress or illness
(C)abnormal levels of thyroid hormone
(D)physical illness
(E)abnormal levels of a hormone called prolactin
(F)polycystic ovarian syndrome- a condition diagnosed with abnormal levels of certain hormones along with ultrasound showing cysts on the ovaries
(G) side effect of medication
When your doctor sees you next week, he or she may suggest blood tests (to check some hormone levels- thyroid, prolactin, testosterone, FSH, LH) as well as imaging.
The treatment would depend on the cause found.
