What Causes Delayed Periods?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Nov 2014
Question: Hi. I'm confused. My Cycle was supposed to show today but there is no sign of it. I have always had a cycle; never missed one, never late unless I was pregnant. I have 2 kids but I've been pregnant 4 times(2 miscarriages). I have always had cramps, breast tenderness, and fatigue a week before my cycle comes, but this time not so much. Today my cycle has not showed itself. I'm having mild cramps, had a vaginal discharge( sort of thick like mucus/very pale yellow), gassy, very fatigue, dizziness, but a negative pregnancy test. What's going on, why the late period?

Brief Answer:
Hormonal plus infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi Madam,
I have carefully read your query and understand your concern.

The missed/delayed period in your case for this only time can be strongly attributed to a combination of factors like Hormonal fluctuations with possible infection of your genital tract -cervicitis/vaginitis.,which is mostly evident from the classical history of gaseous vaginal discharge.

Also the symptoms you experience one week prior to your cycle are collectively referred to as "premenstrual syndrome".

Women with premenstrual syndrome are also more prone to pre cycle hormonal fluctuations.

There is nothing much to worry in your case as treatment of the underlying possible infection with a course of antibiotics like azithromycin and fluconazole will soon restore the cycle.

The cramps and fatigue can be managed with mefenamic acid and short course of SSRI's like escitalopram will provide excellent response and symptom free state.

Note: all the mentioned drugs should be taken under strict medical supervision.

i hope this info is helpful to you,
post your further queries if any,
thank you
