Question: My mother (65yrs) got operated for TKR surgery in Fortis Hospital(India) on 2nd.Dec.14.The surgery was successful followed up with physio. She was able to walk with walker and carry out all the excercises. My mother is dibetic type2 (mellitus).
She was kept on IV medications till 6th.Dec14 & discharged on 7th.Dec'14 with following oral medications#
Widcef (cefuroxime sod)-500mg twice a day, nexpro (esomeprazole)-40mg once a day, ultracet (tramadol hcl+paracetamol) thrice a day, letzmove (diclofenac)-150mg twice a day, disperzyme (trypsin+bromelain) four times a day, cobadex cz once a day, glycomet(metformin)-500mg once a day, glycomet (metformin)1000mg once a day, glypride 2mg oncd a day, telma 40mg once a day, xarelto 10mg once a day.
Thus in total 19 tablets(6500mg) in one day prescribed which led to heart/chest burning, upper abdomen burning, dizziness.
The Ortho surgeon asked to stop alk medications except for sugar/bp and nexpro on 8th.Dec'14 but the problem still persisted.
On 9th.Dec'14 ths ortho surgeon directed me to consult with Gastroenterologist for further treatment.
The Gastroenterologist has now prescribed Pantocid dsr, lesuride, mucaine gel for 4 days and LFT/RFT and other test will bd carried out on 13th.Dec'14.
Pls revert urgently for my next course of action as my mother health is deteriorating with time and doctors aporoach seems to be casual.

In daily clinical practice , these are very common problem and side effects, dealt by all doctors.
The medications which were prescribed at discharge from hospital were all necessary, and right doses.
The gastro also has given good prescription.
But it may take 24 to 48 hours to to show their result.
If I was her treating doctor I would have given her injectables again for few days. You can consult her doctor about injectables.
You may give reference of our conversation as well.
Give her sips of cold water(Even that may hurt).
Her BLOOD SUGAR NEEDS TO be monitored.
Hope I have answered your query.
If any thing else you are welcome.
