Question : For the last week, I have had diarrhea or a soft bowel movement once a day. My stomach presents with cramping and pain on the left side which is only alleviated upon passing a movement. There is no noticeable blood in the stool. My stomach feels unsettled throughout the day, but it only result in one movement at some point. I have a history of IBS mostly constipation. The first day I had diarrhea I had finished taking minocycline for 30 days to control acne, and have not had any further dosage since that day. I do have a fissure that will occassionally bleed upon passing a hard stool due to constipation.

Brief Answer:
Lost stool most possible due to IBS

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

Your lose stool may be due to IBS, a viral infection or a parasite. Most probably IBS, because if it was viral or parasite would be multiple times/day. On the other side we cannot call if diarrhea because you don't have it more then 3 times/day (thats when its called diarrhea).
I don't think it is related to minocycline too, since it started when you finished it and not while you were on it.

So, basically I would say to treat it as you do when you have constipation due to IBS but doing the opposite- drink plenty of fluids, eat foods that cause consistent stool, take something for the cramps, take a probiotic which may help, avoid milk or everything that may cause diarrhea.

It will get better eventually.
If you start having diarrhea more then 3 times/day, blood or mucus in the stool, then I would say to either follow-up with me or see a local doctor.

Hope this is helpful.
