Question : I had a c section 10 days ago (second c section) and I have had diarrhea for the last 4 days with mucous stool and just watery stool. What can I do? And why is it happening?

hello and welcome to HCM. thanks for writing in to us with your health query. I suppose you were given antibiotics after the c section , which is the cause of the diarrhea . it is common to have diarrhea after some antibiotics . Antibiotics cause change in the Milue of the normal intestine by causing death of good organisms which help is to digest food. Can you tell me which antibiotics you were prescribed, Amox clav is very notorious to cause diarrhea. don't worry, take sachets of sporolac 4 times a day for 3 days. it would hasten the recovery. regards Dr Manisha Jain.

I wasnt given any antibiotics after surgery. Just pain pills (ocycodone and tordal and ibuprofen) i stopped all of that by day 4 post partum. Also im breastfeedjng and when uterus contracts it seems to trigger me wanting to use resteoom.

Take sporolac as advised and you will be relieved most likely but in case you don't then get stool examination done for ova and cyst to see the cause of diarrhoea.
