What Causes Diarrhea And Vomiting?

default
Posted on Sat, 26 Apr 2014
Question: My 22 old has had 3 relapses of a stomach virus in the past week or so. He will seem fine for a day and then wake up vomiting again the next. He seems to doing ok now except he has extremely watery diarrhea. It's been 4 days since his last vomiting episode but the diarrhea doesn't want to let up. Should I be expecting another relapse or is this normal? I should mention he is eating and drinking ok.

Brief Answer: Detailed below. Detailed Answer: Hello! Thank you for the query. This does not sound like viral diarrhea. Please note that usually viral diarrhea lasts few days and goes away. Such recurring symptoms are rather caused by bacterial infection or some other issue like food allergy, food intolerance. Every diarrhea which lasts longer than 48 hours needs to be checked with stool tests. That is why I suggest your to visit pediatrician and do not wait for another episode. Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regards.
