Question : Hello, I have been sick for a little over 3 weeks and have been diagnosed having Acute Bronchitis twice by different physicians. Given same medication twice. I am currently still having problems breathing when I do very little activity....like walking. Pain starts in my upper abdomen and I feel pressure build all the way to my head and then a lose my breath and have to stop or slow. The pain subsides, and then I can go about what I need to do....as long as I am not walking. My abdomen fills full and uncomfortable. I have a dry cough that kicks in when talking or eating or drinking. As of tonight, my ankles are swollen.

My Background - I have AF - 65% of the time. I take 1 asprin a day. I take Zocor 40mg one per day. My cholesterol is well within normal and my triglycerides are also well in the normal range. I have 3 ruptured and one bulging disc's in my neck area. Other than that, I am in good health. No other major problems.

Brief Answer:
Acute bronchitis or common cold is quite common. You need not worry much.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HealthCare Magic. Thank you for posting your query. I can understand your concern.

It would have been great had I examined you on my own. However let me help you out.
See Acute Bronchitis. as has been diagnosed, is a very common ailment. The dry cough , you are having , is due to this only.
Do not worry much.

I would suggest you to -
1. Take rest
2. Quit smoking if you do smoke.
3. I would start Tablet Paracetamol if fever develops.
4. Continue with the antibiotics like Azithromycin and inhalerandall the other routine medications that you take.
5. Get a blood haemoglobin , total count and ESR done
6. For the breathlessness and chest pain on doing little activity and ankle swelling- I would suggest you to get an electrocardiogram and ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY done to rule out cardiac pathology.

Do not worry. Visit a pulmonologist with the reports. He/she can examine you and correlate clinically.

Hope this helps.
